New crew members?

OK, this guy really looks ready to go a pillagin on halloween.

But, do we think he is a real pirate? Would a real dog pirate have a parrot? And why does he look so unhappy? Pirates are always happy. Does he look like a swashbuckler? We need a vote.

OK this guy looks like he may make an OK swabbie. He seems small enough to hang around the crow's nest scanning for our next victim. Plus he looks sneaky, I like that. How about a vote for this one.

Halloween pirates

Ahoy Mateys. Tomorrow is halloween. Do you all have your pirate costumes ready? I don't but that won't stop me from pillagin all those treats that I can find. Somebody sent us an email with two photos of prospective crew members. I am having a hard time getting them to upload on blogger right now but maybe tomorrow morning. Maybe the blogger guys have gone out a pirating.

My Role Model

Yo ho yo ho Mateys. This is my hero Cap'n Jack Sparrow. He is the one who set me on my road to being a pirate. Cap'n Jack Sparrow is my role model. I tried to get into the theater to see the 2nd Pirates of The Caribbean movie but they would not let me in, something about no dogs even though I told them I was a pirate. So now I am waiting impatiently. If you have never seen this Pirates of the Caribbean movie, make sure you get your people to let you watch it. I want to be just like Cap'n Jack, well except I have clean teeth. Harrrrr

And I'm off the internet now until Monday. Mom shuts the computer off, locks the office and takes the key, so I can't blog until she gets back. So far my attempts to obtain a laptop have been futile.

Treasure chest

Harrr, I was cruising around the pirate haunts and found this treasure chest. Oh, this is just what we are looking for. I found it at Billy Bones Pirate Locker They will sell you one with goodies in it but where is the fun in that. This is exactly what we should be digging for mateys.

On other news, the straw is here and I have been busy organizing it in my cabin on the poop deck to make it just right. And last night was turkey neck night.

On with the treasure hunt, dig, sniff, dig, dig, dig, sniff, sniff, sniff, harrr.

Treasure map number two

Shiver me timbers, glad everybody had such fun with the link.

In the meantime, because no one could find treasure with that other map, and Althea may be right that the Nincompoop sabotaged it, I found this one. Its kinda small but looks like we gotta go in the water to the beach, then between the fort and the palm tree, past the skull and something else to the X. We got a pond here so I have been looking for the fort and know that paper palm tree is in the basement. So far I did find an old kiddy fort that is full of fire wood so things may be looking up.

On the other hand, the pears are all really falling now so they won't last much longer and taking a break with a nice ripe frosty pear is great too.

Avast swabbies, get with the plan, we gotta find that treasure or walk the plank.

Yo ho yo ho, I was looking around at some pirate stuff today and found this site http://www.piratesinfo.com/detail/detail.php?article_id=60

Those are all pictures of different pirate flags. I like the one Bosun's Mate Tubey made us better.

On the treasure, I found a rock, and went three paces to a maple tree and then three more paces and started to dig. There was nothing. We need to get a new map, this one is broken. Maybe the Nincompoop got it.

Treasure maps

Althea Red Eye has an excellent point about using maps and X marks the spot. I had always thought that I marked the spot when I lifted my leg but I guess not. I found this treasure map on the internet. Maybe we can find the treasure under the X on this map.

I could go to Mapquest and type in where I am and "buried treasure." They have a map for everything, doncha-know.

Maps are a touchy subject around here. Mom and the dogs do a bit a traveling for the dog shows and Mom uses this big map book she calls Road Atlas. Kinda like the road warrior, harrr. Anyway she got a new one as a gift. I guess whoever buyed it, did not check the pages carefully and Mom says some Nincompoop removed the pages from West Texas to Utah while Road Atlas was still at the store. I haven't been any place between West Texas and Utah since then. I know CB, Juarez, Penny and Carmen went to Knoxville TN last year and that is not in Road Atlas. She must have gone by dead reckoning.

Everytime somebody mentions a map, we hear Mom go on and on about the Nincompoop. She gets pretty ballistic about it.

What kinda animal is a Nincompoop anyway? Maybe Althea Red Eye knows, she seems to be the brains of the operation. I think she can be the first mate.

Maverick in the Brig

Hey Mateys, Lisa left this morning and will be gone all weekend. Mom is taking care of us so I thought this would be a perfek time to start treasure huntin'. There was some mud I found and it was so great to dig in. But now I am in the brig. OK, its just my run with my house where I usually am, but don't I look like a pirate in the brig. I think so. Anyway I am covered with dark, stickly clay-like mud. I heard that there are places called spas where peoples pay to get covered in this stuff. Do I have a deal for them!! Anyway, all the treasure I found was a rusty horse shoe and Mom took that away. Why don't you all snuffle a great place to dig and go for the gold!!

I'm glad most everybody liked my joke yesterday. I am still laughing, harrr harrr harrr.

Treasure hunting

Here is a photo of me treasure hunting earlier this fall. I have several places in the yard that are good spots for treasure. Althea Red Eye had an excellent idea about treasure hunting. I will be getting out my metal detector soon to work on it. If we all scout out great spots, we can have a group dig and discuss the booty.
